Thursday 4 March. The Grand Beach Club. Granger Bay. Oakley South Africa threw one biiiiiig  jol for their 2010 Eyewear launch.  Anybody who cracked the nod for an invite went home stoked. Free Drinks, free Dinner and free Oakley Sunglasses. Woke up with a banging head on Friday morning. But it was so worth it. Thursday is the new Friday.

Hospital is no fun.

I’ve fractured my ankle/kankle and looks like I’m out of the water for 6-8 weeks ! Was admitted for surgery at Alberlito Hospital this morning, then ended up not having the operation done. Thank goodnessssss. I have a rad spaceboot that I have to wear ’till it heals. Not toooo sure what I’m going to do with myself for the next few weeks. Damn.

Spent the day Wakeboarding at Rietvlei with Po Rider Andrew Bourne. It was my first time and I had a JOL. So much fun but I’m definitely not going to be able to move tomorrow. IT IS A KILLLLLER workout. Everything hurts already. I figured it out pretty quickly but then ATE it (FACEPLANT!) on my 2nd run. It’s fine though – practice makes perfect !! haha. Can’t wait to go again ! Shot ANDY

I am in love. Like for real. This board is amazing.  Baron sent it down to me yesterday – I’ve surfed it twice now and it’s AWESOME. 5′2 x 19 x 2 1/2 .  I’ve been riding it as a thruster but the plugs are set up so that I can ride it as a quad if I want. It’s so loooooose but also has a ton of drive.  You NEED to get one of these boards. Seriously. Listen to me.

Finally the rain has stopped! I have been surfing all day and I’m tired and it feels so good. Summer in South Africa is awesome.

Yesterday Tam and I found a little 2ft right bank at *not telling you where* and had an awesome 3hr sesh. Tam was boosting all over the show and I chucked a couple of rad reverses and tail slides. Awesome day.

The Wahine Cup starts on Sat so gotta start preparing ! I’m excited to get a contest jersey on ! The swell in meant to be tiny for the event. We checked out the contest site this morning and the banks look better than last year, so hopefully we get some contestable waves to ride.

I have some amazing friends. Tammy -Lee flew me to Durban, ooooo sorry i mean Ballito, for my birthday, thats a special kind of special huh?? Ya I think so. Her family runs, in my opinion, one of the best backpackers in the country - The Secret Spot. Please check it out, beeessst backpackers – I’m very serious.

The surf hasn’t been too great since I got here, but we have had a few fun surfs at Surfers Point in Ballito and a few sessions in Umhlanga with Chris Leppan. I’m so fine with that. I also fell off a skateboard. Not fine with that. I’m not into falling onto tar, thats why I surf – I fall into water. Haha.

We also went on a Southcoast mission (Thanx Robbo), did not get good waves and Tam, Dan and Trav almost got eaten by a shark. Well not really – it just swam past them but thats a liiiitttttttle toooooo close for me. Had a flipping fun time down there, even with Sharkys and without waves.
