Hi there. Hello. I flew to East London last night to visit my good mate Nikita Robb. I woke up with a banging head after a big jol at Buc’s last night. Good to catch up. Dance floor madness. I may post pics. Or not.

Woke up early and drove to Port Alfred to check out the 2010 Oakley Pro Junior. Click the pic for the official event site.

Was awesome to catch up with the Oakley South Africa crew and also to see all the grommies surfing in the event. I don’t get to see the junior girls and boys surf very often and I was stoked with the standard of surfing. Good stuff. Very good stuff. The waves at the comp site looked FUNFUNFUN, 3-5ft clean and running along the sand bar. I would love to have been out there. Next time. I filmed Nikita, Alice and Bianca freesurfing at West Pier, the waves weren’t great that side of the pier BUT we got some HILARIOUS wipeout footage (Nikita never disappoints when it comes to wipeouts) and I will chuck the video up on the site soon. Also have to mention that I had a double thick large FRIESLANDS milkshake today. Stunning. Also going to have one tomorrow. And one on Sunday.

Decided to order one rounded pin. I used to always ride RP’s but stopped a few years back. I’m not sure why. Tasha says it’s cos 5 years ago all the cool kids were riding squashes and I wanted to be cool. hmm. I like the way squashes feel. But lets see how I like the RP again.

ahhh. So. Tammy Frikkin Lee Smith is now a “BLOGGER”. I’m fine with it.  BUT.  She has already made it a contest. Everything  Tammy does is a contest. Everything.  She has to be the best. Table Tennis. Surfing. Running. Coffee Drinking. Breathing. and now BLOGGING. When we play Table Tennis she cheats. When we surf she snakes me. She can have running, I don’t care for running. I win hands down when it comes to coffee. Breathing is even at this stage. And now “BLOGGING”.

“BLOGGING” ? ? Blogging. Blogging. say it over and over and over and it sounds stupid.

Anyway. It seems I better up my game.

Thursday 4 March. The Grand Beach Club. Granger Bay. Oakley South Africa threw one biiiiiig  jol for their 2010 Eyewear launch.  Anybody who cracked the nod for an invite went home stoked. Free Drinks, free Dinner and free Oakley Sunglasses. Woke up with a banging head on Friday morning. But it was so worth it. Thursday is the new Friday.

This is one of my best mates. Her name is Tammy-Lee Smith (It’s actually Tamlynne Smith, Tammy-Lee is a STAGE NAME. HA.). Look at the photos, isn’t she cool ? huh? Doesn’t she look good in the barrel? I think so. How rad is the red jean and brown jacket combo?  yup, that right there, is why I keep her around. We have been friends for 10 years this year, pretty special I think! We have travelled the world together, pushed each other’s surfing and never had a real fight haha. Except one time when we were younger we collided in a heat and got a double interference. I lost the heat and she made it through. hmmm. We both cried. Whatever ha.  She just started a blog – Check it HERE.

I’m up in Ballito at the moment. It’s RAINY and the sea is FLAT!  nooo waves ! So Tammy Lee and I have decided to shape our own surfboard.  We found an old blank in the shaping bay here at the Secret Spot and starting cutting it down today. Will post pics and video as we go along. Oh ya, her name is JULIA

I have some amazing friends. Tammy -Lee flew me to Durban, ooooo sorry i mean Ballito, for my birthday, thats a special kind of special huh?? Ya I think so. Her family runs, in my opinion, one of the best backpackers in the country - The Secret Spot. Please check it out, beeessst backpackers – I’m very serious.

The surf hasn’t been too great since I got here, but we have had a few fun surfs at Surfers Point in Ballito and a few sessions in Umhlanga with Chris Leppan. I’m so fine with that. I also fell off a skateboard. Not fine with that. I’m not into falling onto tar, thats why I surf – I fall into water. Haha.

We also went on a Southcoast mission (Thanx Robbo), did not get good waves and Tam, Dan and Trav almost got eaten by a shark. Well not really – it just swam past them but thats a liiiitttttttle toooooo close for me. Had a flipping fun time down there, even with Sharkys and without waves.
